artists’ bio
Nina Kersey was born and raised in Rineyville, Kentucky. They moved to Louisville in 2016 to attend the Kentucky college of Art and Design, while later completing their BFA in drawing and a minor in philosophy at University of Louisville.
Since residing in Louisville, Kersey has regularly shown at local art galleries and museums including, Quappi Projects, Darby Forever Gallery, Houseguest, KMAC, and more.
Kersey has been awarded the Great meadows artist development grant twice, to visit Venice, Italy and Tokyo, Japan, to research contemporary art to further inspire their practice.
They also are a co-founder and operator of Snide Hotel Gallery and studios, a not for profit co-op model space where they, among fifteen other artist, work on their respective practices. They also host regular gallery shows collaborating with guest curators and local as well as out of town artists.
Their work focus on heavy emotions that come with grief, secrecy, frustration, and existence beyond corporeal form.
